Wilderness Wednesday Holiday Club Summer 2012 – a wet one!

We have had some wet days this summer but I think today may have been one of the wettest!  Our outdoor classroom really came into its own as it allowed the children to continue with the outdoor activities without getting soaked through.

The children learnt how to use a hand drill safely and made boats out of wood and shells, they made beautiful imprints on material using leaves and flowers from the garden, they whittled sticks and made frames learning how to tie the appropriate knots, and they made their own snack of soda bread.  Most importantly they learnt how to work together in small mixed aged groups helping each other and learning from each other.  Cementing existing friendships and making new ones.

The children had a really good time, and learnt some new skills, all the staff put into action Plan B brilliantly, and the parents and carers have happy, tired children and lots of wet clothes to wash!

We are looking forward to the next time.
